Jewels are created from the earth’s various processes over time. Through the earth’s conditions of temperature, pressure, and chemical environment, this process allows the precious minerals to crystalize, creating a beautiful and often valuable gemstone.
Through death is a fact of life, it can be hard for everyone to experience loss, let alone a child losing a parent or sibling. There are 2.5 million people who die in the US annually, leaving on average 5 grieving people behind. Children in the US account for 1.5 million or 5% of individuals who have lost one or both parents by 15 years old. Many times in the US children grieve in silence because people have this idea that children are resilient and will bounce back, not realizing that grief affects children just as much if not more than it affects adults. Due to their inability to understand the concept or implications of death, lack of knowledge of the world and things around them, and ultimately due to lack of support a child often grieves in silence. For a child, coping and dealing with their feelings of grief presents to be very difficult as other members of the family are in the process of grieving as well.
Through research, it was noted that there are many organizations and programs that assist with the grieving process for adults, but for children grieving they often do not have support. Wyman’s Jewelz looks to reach youth, to give them the voice and strength to work through their grief with healthy steps in a safe supportive environment promoting healing and understanding of the grief process. Through the heartache, sorrow, anguish, and pain Wyman’s Jewelz look to polish their spirit and reflect the light that shines on them within their soul.
